My parents and I took a ride to check out the Black Bear Restaurant & Tavern 34 Old Route 22 Wingdale, NY.
I love their logo and Joe the owner is really cool. He took great care of us.
Joe took a couple of minutes to chat with me about his restaurant
I started off the night sharing the Special Black Bear Bean Salad -fresh organic locally grown string beans, onions, tomatoes, shrimp, & applewood bacon marinated in extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar
My mom’s appetizer was fresh grilled figs stuffed with sweet gorganzola cheese & topped with drizzled balsamic vinegar. This was a totally new taste for me.
My Dad chose the wild Mushroom Risotto -creamy risotto with wild mushroom, shaved parmesean. I couldn’t wait to taste it because love watching Chef Gordon Ramsay scream about bad risotto on TV. Was it up to the Ramsay standard?
And for me…Applewood Smoked Bacon -thick strips grilled to perfection & served with housemade Kansas City style BBQsauce for dipping – BACON!
For the Entree round, Mom chose the Maryland Crab Cake -seared jumbo crab with a tangy citrus aioli, with a substituted ceasar salad. To be honest, I didn’t think I would like it.
Dad is the big meat eater, he chose the Black Bear Angus NY Strip Steak with a loaded baked potato (cheddar and BACON) and house veggie – tonight asparagus -done to dads perfection.
This was my “BAM GOOD” pick of the evening!
I went with the Black Bear Burger (cub sized) with applewood smoked BACON, cheddar, let, tom, & grilled onions on a Kaiser roll.
Last, but certainly not least, it was time for dessert. There were sooo many choices.
Dad is a huge chocolate fan so he took on the Black bear Brownie.
I went with the good ole chocolate mousse.
My beautiful new friend Meaghan -she knew everything about the menu, took great care of us and had a great smile!
All in all, I had a great foodie visit to the Black Bear Restaurant. I definitely recommend it for the whole family.
